What to look for when buying a used car

If you are in the market for a used car and wondering what you need to consider, here is a checklist so you can make sure you have covered every angle before you sign on the dotted line.
Mileage

First up is mileage, how many miles are on the clock and how much life is left in it? See if it is relevant to the age of the vehicle and ask any questions about how many previous owners there have been and other facts about the car.

Electronics

Check the electronics are all fine and dandy. You want to make sure everything is in working order and test them out for yourself if possible!

Interior

The age of the car will have an impact on the interior condition and you might want to keep an eye out for tears and rips as well as stains. Some things will come out and will be able to be repaired but other things cause permanent damage, take a good look around.

Exterior

This goes for the exterior too, check the condition it is in and keep an eye out for any signs of wear and rust. If there are any dinks or scrapes in the body work, take these into consideration as they will get worse over time.

Service history

You want to make sure that the vehicle you are looking at comes with a service history, to give you peace of mind that it has been well looked after. Ask any many questions as you would like on this to make sure you have all the information you need.

Test drive

Test drive the vehicle so you can get a feel for being behind the wheel. It is important that you are comfortable and confident in the car so take it out on the roads to test.

Gut feeling

Ultimately, you need to go with your gut. Trust your instincts and decide what is right for you.
